The National Right to Housing Network partnered up with the Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation (CERA) to produce a series of pamphlets reviewing the barriers and opportunities to advancing the right to housing in Canada.
This pamphlet details the responsibilities of federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments in Canada to work toward the progressive realization of the right to adequate housing. It highlights:
-
How the right to housing applies to all governments in Canada;
-
How to use the National Housing Strategy Act as a model for implementing the right to housing within provincial, territorial and municipal governments;
-
How to use federal spending power to ensure national coordination and coherence to implement the right to housing; and,
-
Recommendations for all governments to collaborate and uphold the right to adequate housing.
